There is currently a big debate going on in France over the issue of 'what it means to be French'. The discussions were started some years ago by a Paris-based think-tank, the Institut Montagne, They became the focus of attention when the government opened a debate on the definition of national identity. Intially there seemed to be two issues at stake which gradually merged into one. But, in an exclusive RFI interview, François Rachline, General Director of the Institut Montagne, claims they should remain separate.

Paris trial on 2000 Concorde crash
What caused a Concorde to crash in 2000, killing 113 people? An investigation concluded that a metal strip which fell off a Continental Airlines, was partly to blame. But at a trial which began in Paris on Tuesday, lawyers for Continental argued otherwise.
