EU attacks Israel's expansion plans

The European Union Presidency on Wednesday criticised Israel's plans to expand settlements in East Jerusalem. The same day, Israeli bulldozers demolished Palestinian-owned houses in the Arab neighbourhood.

Premature to recognise a Palestinian state, says EU

The European Union’s presidency has called a planned Palestinian request for recognition as an independent state by the UN Security Council as a premature move. The Foreign Minister of Sweden, which holds the EU’s rotating presidency, suggested Thursday that there could be other moves.

Iran rejects enrichment deal according to French Foreign Minister

Iran has effectively rejected a deal brokered by the UN nuclear watchdog intended to deal with concerns over uranium enrichment. On Sunday French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said, “it isn’t good, and it is very dangerous”.

Palestinians to ask UN to recognise independent state

The Palestinians will ask the UN Security Council to recognise an independent state with Jerusalem as the capital and borders defined in June 1967. Israel has warned against unilateral steps.

The management at Radio France Internationale has called for the immediate release of Fariba Pajooh who is being held in Teheran's in Evin prison accused of alleged propaganda against the Iranian Republiic. Pajooh was arrested at her home in the capital on 22 August and her computer was confiscated by the authorities.
