Obama's proposals for new gun laws face opposition in United States Congress

In the United States, Barack Obama is on a collision course with Republicans in Congress over gun laws. The President says he will use the full weight of his office to keep mass shootings from happening. Obama's proposals include a ban on assault-type weapons and come just over a month after the mass shooting in an elementary school in Connecticut.
