RFI has been told the trial of Chad’s former dictator,Hissene Habré, will start this year, possibly as soon as April. Hissene Habré is accused of crimes against humanity during his rule between 1982 and 1990. He has been in exile in Senegal since 1990 and has been indicted by a Senegalese judge. Analysts acccuse Senegal’s former president, Abdoulaye Wade, of delaying Habré's trial. Dakar and the African Union signed an agreement in December last year to create a special court in order to prosecute Habré. RFI spoke to Djena Diarra, the legal Counsel with the AU.
