The killing of twins and other babies, whose birth is considered a bad omen, was a cultural practice among some ethnic groups in Nigeria more than 100 years ago. There are indications that the practice has not disappeared. Some Nigerian missionaries say large numbers of babies are being sacrificed in remote villages in Nigeria’s federal capital territory.
