It is arguably the most successful social programme in the world. Bolsa Familia, a Brazilian government initiative, gives a small amount of money to parents who keep their children in school. The programme is relatively cheap but has helped to reduce Brazil 's high levels of inequality. RFI reports from Rio de Janeiro in the first of a five part series on Brazil 's social transformation.
