US President Donald Trump has squared off against House Democrats, with an increasingly aggressive impeachment defense. Lawmakers have expanded their inquiry, promising to get their hands on documents and witnesses.
A whistleblower within the US government had exposed a July phone call between Trump and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in which Trump pressed for an investigation of Democratic political rival Joe Biden and his family.
The US President spoke about the week-old impeachment inquiry at length.
