Thai lèse majesté cases on the rise
Issued on: Modified:
Thailand has seen a recent rise in the use of its law on lèse majesté, the offence of making statements that show insufficient respect for the country's monarchy. Earlier this week arrest warrants were issued for a Thai general and two senior police officiers accused of defaming the royal family. And before that, two people, another policeman and a soothsayer, died in custody after being arrested for lèse majesté.
