Issued on: Modified:
The Cinémas du Monde, organised by the French government, runs a special workshop throughout the Cannes festival to help young filmmakers from parts of the world where cinema is developing. Each year, there is a godfather and or a godmother, chosen from the film world to coach these adventurers. Past masters include Elia Suleiman and Rithy Pan. As master, one of their tasks is to give a master class. RFI spoke with this year’s grand master filmmaker, Raoul Peck who is originally from Haiti, but grew up in Congo.
