This week’s quiz: On 24 January, I asked you a question about tigers. The country which has the largest tiger population in the world had just announced their new figures, following an aggressive conservation program - there are now a third more tigers than there were just four years ago. You were to write in with the answer to two questions: first, the name of the country which has the largest tiger population in the world, and second, how many tigers were reported there in 2011, and how many in 2014.
The answer is: India. According to India’s Environment minister, Prakash Javadekar, there were 1,706 tigers in India in 2011, and in 2014, 2,226! That’s a 30 percent increase! Bravo India!
The winners this week are: Three RFI Club members: Sri Debaki Ranjan Biswas, from West Bengal, India; Aniss Kaouane from Skikda, Algeria, and Jean-Maurice Devault, from Montreal, Canada. From Rajshahi, Bangladesh, the director of the Lecturer's Radio Listener's Club & Library, Professor Saiful Islam Thandar, and from Sheffield, the UK, Dr DW Nabi.
