Nearly half the agricultural land in the West Bank is planted with olives and the olive oil industry makes up some 14 per cent of the Palestinians' agricultural income, supporting the livelihoods of tens of thousands of families. But farmers' access to land is heavily restricted, and myriad Israeli militar-manned gates and a convoluted permit system stand between the owners and their harvest.
