Turkish police arrest 130 alleged PKK members
Turkish police on Tuesday detained more than 130 people with suspected links to Kurdish rebels in three of the country’s main cities, media reports said.
Eighty-three people were arrested in Istanbul after raids on several addresses around the city, Anatolia news agency reported.
The suspects are accused of having links to the urban wing of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
In the mainly Kurdish south-east 31 people were arrested in the regional capital Diyarbakir and 20 people in the city of Gaziantep, NTV news channel reported.
The number of detainees might increase in Diyarbakir as the police operation was ongoing, NTV said.
Currently, more than 2,500 Kurds, including five MPs from the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party, are in jail for allegedly belonging to the PKK.
