In Switzerland, the Cern physics lab has announced it has discovered a new particle that may be the elusive Higgs boson or "God particle". Physicists have been searching for this subatomic particle for 45 years. Scientists say that its existence would explain why matter has mass in the universe, but that more tests are needed to determine whether the new particle is indeed a Higgs boson or something more exotic. RFI spoke to CEA physicist Claude Guyot about the discovery.
