How clean is French water?

In a centraliSed country like France water is one of the few things handled at local level. Thousands of water-treatment plants around the country provide drinking water to residents, who tend to take it for granted that it is safe, clean and readily available. The French Water Information Centre, which brings together some of the country's biggest water authorities, publishes a yearly survey on drinking water in France.
