Church’s synod to talk about homosexuality, stirring up debate among Christians
Issued on: Modified:
Just a few hours before the opening of the annual synod event during which the Pope gathers his high-ranking bishops from the Catholic Church from all over the world to discuss and decide on new doctrines, a Polish priest broke two taboos: he came out as gay and said he was in a relationship. His revelation challenges, in his own words, the Church's "backwards" attitude to homosexuality. Here in France, although the number of people calling themselves catholics has diminished since the 70s, such recent events begs the question… how is this issue really perceived among Christians themselves? RFI’s Clea Broadhurst has been finding out.
