Yemen's President Saleh says he will step down
In a state TV address on Saturday, Yemen’s president Ali Abdallah Saleh announced that he will step down within days.
"I don't want power and I will give it up in the coming days," the veteran president said in the televised speech.
Saleh had returned to Yemen last month from Saudi Arabia, where he was receiving treatment after his office was shelled in June.
Protests against Saleh and his government have raged since January, killing nearly 1500 people.
Saleh is the longest-serving president of Yemen, and has ruled the country since 1978.
