Pope's resignation creates uncertainty about Catholicism of future

World political and religious leaders expressed surprise but respect for Pope Benedict XVI's announcement yesterday of his resignation due to "incapacity" because of his age. Groups representing the victims of sexual abuse have welcomed Pope Benedict XVI's to retire. The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests issued a statement calling for the next pontiff to be more cooperative with inquiries into abuse claims.
