The "Popebike", a Harley-Davidson that briefly belonged to Pope Francis and is signed by the pontiff, was to be auctioned in Paris on Thursday.
When it celebrated its 110th birthday last June, Harley Davidson gave Pope Francis two of its motorcycles and a jacket.
Today the Harley, a 1,585cc Dyna Super Glide, is up for sale to raise funds for a Catholic charity.
The fuel tank is signed by the pontiff and will be sold in aid of Caritas Roma, a foundation tasked with sheltering the poor.
The sale, organised by the British auction house Bonhams at the prestigious Grand Palais museum in Paris, will help the charity to renovate a hostel and soup kitchen in Rome.
The bidding started at 12,000 euros and a mystery European buyer paid a total of 241,500 euros to obtain the bike.
