20 films seront en compétition pour la Palme d’or dont Grigris du Tchadien Mahamat-Saleh Haroun. 18 films se retrouvent dans la sélection officielle « Un certain regard » dont Anonymous du réalisateur iranien Mohammad Rasoulof. 9 films, dont pour la première fois une œuvre palestinienne, Condom Lead de Mohammed et Ahmad Abou Nasser, vont concourir pour la Palme d’or 2013 du court-métrage. Le 66e Festival de Cannes aura lieu du 15 au 26 mai.
