"The worst thing the colonisers brought to Kenya was the notion of private property," says an expert in the film The End of Poverty. In this full-length documentary, director Philippe Diaz sets out to explain why poverty exists, and when it started. For him, the colonial powers are responsible: they destroyed the natural economies of the countries they colonised, they exploited the natural resources and encouraged the large-scale cultivation of cash crops.
