“I Remember Better When I Paint” Alzheimer’s art therapy

Audio 23:00

On today’s Club 9516/The Sound Kitchen: “I Remember Better When I Paint” - ground breaking art therapy for people living with Alzhiemer’s disease.

Hello everyone!

Here’s this week’s quiz question … it’s another sports question, which isn’t really my specialty … but … the most amazing thing happened this past week, in tennis. The longest match in history was played – it lasted 11 hours and 5 minutes! Until then, the longest match was 6 hours and 33 minutes. So my question to you is, who are these record breakers? Their names, and their nationalities ….

Send your quiz answers to:

Attention: Don't click on “Write to us” on this web page. Only use:

for your quiz answers. And be sure you include a postal address!

You have a long time to answer this question: until 30 August.

The winners will be announced on 5 September … … because it is almost time for summer vacation! When you hear this programme I’ll be in the airplane, bound for Texas. I’ve cooked up some mighty fine summer Sound Kitchens for the month of July while I am away - but there will be no quizzes on them.

Again, send in your answers by 30 August - and be sure you send your postal address in with your entry!

And guess what – you only have to send in the answer. You’ve been so great about sending in your recipes and proverbs – and don’t stop! – that I don’t have to make it a requirement anymore for the quiz …

Send your answers by Monday, 30 August to the address in the box on this page.

I have enough recipes now that I can let the proverbial cat out of the bag and let you in on my secret – which you have probably guessed by now. We’re going to put together a

Podcasts and Facebook

Sound Kitchen cookbook, filled with your recipes - and your proverbs, too. Now don’t get complacent and stop sending them in, for we won’t put the book together for awhile. If you contribute, you will be the first to receive one. Later, we can use it as a prize for the quiz. I hope this idea appeals to you! I think it will be great.

I still want you to crowd into the kitchen and cook with me … I want you to write and tell me about people in your community who are doing good things. I want us to have a regular feature on the Club 9516/Sound Kitchen about “ordinary” heroes – the people in your community who are trying to make the world a better place …

Here’s something new: what will you read this summer? Send me your summer reading list – we’ll put it up on the web, so we can all share it.

I still want to hear about the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you, or that you’ve seen. Or … how about sharing your favourite guilty pleasure – mine’s chocolate - or your favourite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon, or your proudest achievement. Send in your musical requests and dedications, too. The Sound Kitchen is only fun if you are a part of it!

So, to your pens! Include a phone number, if you can. I’d like to call you and put you on-the-air – and send you an RFI CD. That’s right, you go on the air, you get a CD of music chosen by the RFI musical team - so don’t be shy! And be sure you tell me how to pronounce your name!

Send your thoughts to me at:
or, of course, via “real” mail, at the address above.

I look forward to hearing from you.
