Suspected bomb found on flight bound for Germany
A suspect package has been found on board an Airbus headed for Munich from Windhoek, German police announced Thursday.
Namibian security forces found the package while it was being loaded onto an Air Berlin plane, police say.
It was equipped with a detonator and a timer, police say, but it is not known whether it contained explosives.
Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière on Wednesday ordered security to be beefed up throughout the country, following a tip-off that an attack was being planned in Germany for the end of November.
“There is reason for concern, but no reason for hysteria,” he told a press conference.
Rhineland-Palatinate state Interior Minister Karl Peter Brach said that there were “concrete indications” of attacks being planned in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.
