The mood in southern Sudan already appears that of a nation waiting to be born. Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir visited this week, promising to recognise and support an expected vote for independence that will split Africa’s largest country. The campaign has very strongly been supported by civil society and church groups in the mainly Christian Southern Sudan.


John Duku, the international coordinator of the Countdown to the Southern Sudan Referendum, calls on southerners to turn out in big numbers.
