The River and the Mountain is a play that highlights the difficulties of being gay in Uganda. It now also highlights the problems with simply talking about homosexuality in the country. The play's British producer, David Cecil, faces criminal charges and up to two years' jail for staging the play at the small cultural centre where he works. Cecil told RFI he only wanted to contribute to Kampala's cultural scene.
