Authorities in Eritrea have refused to issue a visa to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in Eritrea, lawyer Sheila Keetharuth. The Eritrean government had already rejected her appointment by the UN Human Rights Council last year, claiming it was politically motivated. Sheila Keetharuth regrets Eritrea's decision but says she will continue her work with the aim of fostering dialogue.
