Bomb scare aboard Canada to Pakistan flight
Swedish police have arrested a man on suspicion of planning to blow up a Boeing 777 flying from Canada to Pakistan, after a bomb threat forced the pilot to make an emergency landing in Stockholm.
The Pakistan International Airlines flight interrupted its route from Toronto to Karachi to make an emergency stop at Stockholm's Arlanda airport on Saturday morning.
The alert came after Canadian authorities received a tip-off that a passenger was carrying explosives.
All 273 passengers were evacuated from the plane.
The suspect has been taken to a police station, according to a police spokesperson, who says that officers did not find any explosives on the man.
Police continue to search the aircraft and the suspect's baggage, with explosives experts on hand.
