Poverty is rising in the US

September's report from the US Census Bureau has found that 15.1 per cent of the population or 46.2 million Americans are now living below the poverty level. The report shows that over the past year 2.6 million more people slipped into poverty. This is the third consecutive year the number has risen, giving us the highest total since 1993.
