World champion Jorge Lorenzo shrugged off the distractions of his announcement to leave Yamaha for Ducati next season as he posted the fastest time in the first two practice sessions for the Spanish Grand Prix on Friday.

The Spaniard recorded a best time of 1min 39.555 sec to beat compatriot and title rival Marc Marquez's second best effort by over three tenths of a second.

Seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi was over seven tenths down on his Yamaha teammate Lorenzo in fifth fastest.

Marquez leads Lorenzo by 21 points in the world championship standings ahead of the fourth race of the season in Jerez on Sunday.
