Young Ethiopian talent pushes back musical boundaries

He hasn't yet hit 30, but pianist and composer Samuel Yirga from Ethiopia is fast becoming one of east Africa’s most promising young musicians. A piano player with the ethio-fusion collective Dub Collosus, Yirga is now carving out a successful solo career. Following a debut album Guzo in 2012, he recently performed in the Sacred Imaginations concerts co-curated by Sam Mills and Susheela Raman. A classically trained pianist, remarked for his improvisation skills, he talks to RFI about Ethiopia's vibrant music scene, where increasingly, everything is possible.Samuel Yirga is on facebook
