France's DIY shops bid to open on Sundays

Sunday is a day of rest for most people in France, apart from those working in or around the many thriving Sunday morning markets. A collective of shopworkers in DIY stores has now petitioned the government for the right to open their stores.While the trade unions are opposed as a matter of principle, some Socialist MPs are sympathetic to their cause and have asked the works minister to review the situation.
