Dead man on trial in Russia
Issued on: Modified:
In Russia, the trial begins today of a dead lawyer who accused Russian officials of a 175-million euro tax fraud. In 2008, Sergei Magnitsky reported the fraud to police, but Magnitsky was himself arrested and placed in jail, where he died a year later. It is the first time in Russian history that a person has been tried posthumously. RFI spoke to Bill Browder, Magnitsky's former employer, who is also on trial.
