Protestors in Ukraine in favour of closer ties with the European Union took to the streets of the capital Kiev for a second day on Monday. They are angry that the Ukrainian authorities have rejected a partnership and free trade accord with the European Union. EU leaders have been quick to make it clear that the offer for Ukraine still stands and they have accused Russia of preventing Kiev from deciding freely where its allegiance lies. RFI spoke to James Sherr, a Ukraine expert at Chatham House in London, who explains what factors are behind these developments.
