German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s policies will cause the explosion of the European Union (EU) and cause Germany to be hated across the continent, French far-right leader Marine Le Pen has told a leading Germanmagazine.

Merkel’s policies are “positive for Europe and unfortunately damaging for all other countries”, says Le Pen, whose Front National (FN) won 25 per cent in this month’s

European elections in France.

“I’m warning, Look out, Madame Merkel!” she tells Der Spiegel in an interview published Monday. “If it doesn’t notice other European peoples’ suffering, Germany will make itself hated.”

Merkel’s efforts to “impose” policies on other countries, “will lead to the explosion of the European Union”, Le Pen said, adding that, while Germany is the “economic heart of the EU”, it should not forget that France is its “political heart”.

so.

She indicates that she would welcome the German anti-European party AfD, which won seven per cent in the Europoll, while describing it as “elitist”.

“For the moment they haven’t expressed a desire to do so,” Le Pen admitted.

Le Pen expressed sympathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin, currently under fire in the West for his policy towards Ukraine.

Putin is defending his country’s interests, she said.

“In this respect I have as much respect for Putin as for Merkel,” she told Der Spiegel.
