Turkey presidential election 2014
For the first time ever Turkey’s president will be directly elected this year with the first round of voting on 10 August. Voters will have to choose between the pro-business, Islamic policies of current Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the secular nationalism of Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu and the left-wing policies of Selahattin Dermitas. After stormy demonstrations last year, can Erdogan rally the majority of Turks to his side?
