The diplomatic spat over Frenchwoman Florence Cassez, jailed in Mexico since 2005, turned into a crisis this week when a Mexican Appeals Court upheld her 60-year prison sentence on charges of kidnapping. The French government has called the decision a "denial of justice". The Year of Mexico, launched in France in January, looks like being a farce as Foreign Minister Alliot-Marie vows not to participate in any of the celebrations.
