Everyone can look at it, but only members of the group can post on it. If you haven’t yet asked to join the group, and you are a member of an independent, officially recognised RFI English Club, go to the Facebook link above and fill out the questionnaire!!!!! (if you do not answer the questions, I click “decline”).
There’s a Facebook page for members of the general RFI Listeners Club, too. Just click on the link and fill out the questionnaire, and you can connect with your fellow Club members around the world. Be sure you include your RFI Listeners Club membership number (most of them begin with an A, followed by a number) in the questionnaire, or I will have to click “Decline”, which I don’t like to do!
Welcome to our new RFI Listeners Club member! Rezowan Ahmed is a student and lives in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
So glad you have joined us, Rezowan!
You too can be a member of the RFI Listeners Club – just write to me at email@example.com and tell me you want to join, and I’ll send you a membership number. It’s that easy. When you win a Sound Kitchen quiz as an RFI Listeners Club member, you receive a premium prize.
This week’s quiz: On 27 March, I asked you a question about the 2021 World Happiness Report, which had just been published. The World Happiness Report is an annual report produced by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and it ranks 149 countries based on gross domestic product per person, healthy life expectancy, and the opinions of residents.
Surveys ask respondents to indicate on a 1-10 scale how much social support they feel they have if something goes wrong, their freedom to make their own life choices, their sense of how corrupt their society is, and how generous they are.
Due to the pandemic, the surveys for this year's World Happiness Report were done in less than 100 countries, instead of the usual 149.
I asked you to write in and tell me the names of those top-ranking 10 countries.
The answer is: Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Luxembourg, New Zealand, and Austria.
The winners are: Shahzad Shabbir, the president of the Pak France RFI International Listeners Club in Lahore, Pakistan, and RFI Listeners Club members Jean-Maurice Devault from Montreal, Canada; Shaira Hosen Mo from Kishoreganj, Bangladesh, and Warie Porbeni, the founder and principal coordinator of the Radio Zeater Club who lives in Barcelona, Spain. Last but not least on the list of winners this week, RFI English listener Sunny Bharti Kaga from Rajasthan, India.
Here’s the music you heard on this week’s programme: “Rose Room” by Art Hickman, played by Opa Tsupa; “The Flight of the Bumblebee” by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and “Spain” by Chick Corea, performed by Chick Corea and the Return to Forever Band.
Do you have a musical request? Send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
This week’s question ... You'll have to listen to the show to participate. You have until 24 May to enter this week's quiz; the winners will be announced on the 29 May podcast. When you enter, be sure you send your postal address in with your answer, and if you have one, your RFI Listeners Club membership number.
