Another idea for your students: my beloved music teacher from St Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, Br Gerald Muller, has been writing books for young adults in his retirement – and they are free! There is a volume of biographies of painters and musicians called Gentle Giants, and an excellent biography of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They are also a good way to help you improve your English - that’s how I worked on my French, reading books which were meant for young readers – and I guarantee you, it’s a good method for improving your language skills. This week’s quiz: On the 24th of July I asked you a question about the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, which my colleague Ollia Horton covered for you in her daily “Postcard from Cannes” articles.

I asked you to send me the name of the woman who won the prize for Best Actress, and the name of the film and the country where it was made.

The answer is: Renate Reinsve for Worst Person in the World. Worst Person in the World is a 2021 Norwegian dark romantic comedy-drama directed by Joachim Trier. It’s the third film, after Reprise and Oslo, August 31, in the director's "Oslo Trilogy."

The winners are: Mr. Abdur Rakib, the co-president of the Shetu RFI Listeners Club in Naogaon, Bangladesh, and Miss Jharna Khatun, a member of the RFI International DX Radio Listeners Club in Murshidabad, India. There are RFI Listeners Club members Krzysztof Borskicc from Poznan, Poland; Shaon Hossain from Rajbari, Bangladesh, and last but certainly not least, RFI English listener Miss Meijuan Zhu from Anhui Province in China.

Congratulations winners!

Here’s the music you heard on this week’s programme: “Marugelara” composed by Thyagaraja and performed by N. Ramania klezmer version of Irving Berlin’s “Puttin’ on the Ritz”; “The Flight of the Bumblebee” by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov; “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, and “Forro de Rabeca”, performed by Mestre Luiz Paixão.
